Chapter 4: The Void

Our protagonist lays motionless in the overgrown dew covered grass. A second bang is heard, followed by a thud in the night.

Something is wrong. The taste of earthy snow is overpowering my senses all while an incredible cold overtakes my being. Lost to where I am, weightless and disconnected from the physical world, silence powers this void. There is a blindness and loss of sensory that I cannot fully describe. No white light. No warm love to evelope me. The cold arctic barren presence is haunting. No where to turn. No where to run. I cannot escape. Silence dances with the devil here. Help me! A tear falls as I remain disconnected.

A tear begins to fall as the protagonist still lays motionless.

"Wake up! Wake up! Please wake up! I was trying to save you. I didn't mean to..." A weeping voice cries simultaneously while administering medical aid in the dark of those seconds. And then reality returns like a freight train, coughing to rush air into my lungs, the taste of blood is pervasive. An unknown figure had pulled me back from the other side. Turning my head, another figure lays lifeless next to me. "I'm so sorry." he keeps repeating. "We need to go now! There's a safe bunker where others are at. We have to go! Help is on the way."
